What's Good (Week of 9/22)

A bald black man wearing headphones, looking off to the left of the frame.

Howdy friends. If you're joining me from Cohost, welcome back. You've probably already seen this post with a lot more on the front end than this will have, but I'm glad you came. If you're new, I'm DJ Regular and What's Good is my weekly new music blog. I don't do a lot of editorializing here. I just give you the goods in the form of music videos and playlists, along with a few bits of music writing and feature work from around the web in a section called Bonus Beats. If you'd like to know more about the history of What's Good and how I got to this particular iteration of it, I'd recommend you give the spiel I wrote over at Cohost a look. Other than that, let's not have a whole lot of preamble, shall we. This week, we've got:

New Albums:

  • Fat Tony, Fatboi Sharif, & steel tipped dove
  • Mars Kumari
  • PremRock & Willie Green
  • Fashawn & ProducerTrentTaylor
  • Bilal
  • Ripped to Shreds
  • Kit Sebastian

New Singles:

  • Sofie Royer
  • Psalm One & Optiks
  • They Hate Change
  • Black Ends
  • Maxo Kream & Tyler, The Creator
  • 7xvethegenius
  • Biig Piig
  • Tara Lily

And much more. Before we get into the tunes, let's see some Bonus Beats.

Bonus Beats

In celebration of the 5th anniversary of her album Crushing, Julia Jacklin sat down with Faye Webster for a stripped down, acoustic rendition of "Good Guy."

Juicy J kept the jazzy vibes of Ravenite Social Club going with a live performance at Downtown LA's Soho Warehouse.

We Outside: Oasis, Linkin Park, and the Bleak Business of “Being Back”
Pranav Trewn analyzes some recent examples that reflect the oversaturation of reunion tours for the latest edition of the We Outside column.

Pranav Trewn waxed long for Passion of the Weiss on the tragedy of nostalgia that are reunion tours.

Adrianne Lenker and Nick Hakim performed a set of songs from the former's latest LP Bright Future, live from someone's home in Copenhagen for the Brodie Sessions.

PremRock and Willie Green hooked back up for a proper follow up to their 2011 album and it's out today. You can add Through Lines to your collection down below, and check out a bit of BTS on the project in the video up above.
