Normally around this time of year I'd be prepping the Year-In-Review (see 2024 and 2023), but between The Horrors™ personal and more universal, I've been run a bit ragged, and it may need to be postponed or canceled entirely. But rather than leave y'all hanging (and to be fair, there are plenty of people doing lists that I'll point you to in the mean time), I think I wanna do a bit of gift-giving as befits the season. She talks her childhood in the church, the beginning of her career with Missy Elliot, and finding her way to the present with Big Crown Records.
Deltron 3030, the landmark concept album brought to you by Del The Funky Homosapien, Dan The Automator, and Kid Koala is 25 years old, and along with a fancy 4 LP deluxe edition from Get On Down, there's a making of mini-doc you can check out right now. Directed by Jacob Rosenberg, with a special appearance from Randall Park.
Martin Douglas' time at KEXP has drawn to a close, and along with it his column Throwaway Style is ending there as well.
