We're still on a really stressful type of time, with no real end in sight, so take an opportunity to take a breath, untense your shoulders, and enjoy some music with What's Good. This week we've got:

New Albums

  • Japanese Breakfast
  • Goya Gumbani
  • PremRock
  • Previous Industries
  • Saba & No ID
  • Squadda B

New Singles

  • DEBBY FRIDAY
  • De La Soul
  • Estee Nack & al.divino
  • Kit Sebastian
  • Willie The Kid & Real Bad Man
  • Tom Misch

And much more. I'm actually going to try switching things up a little bit by putting the playlists up front this week before the larger list, just to see if this hooks people in a little easier. Throw the music on your platform of choice, then click over to the Music section if you find something that moves you to make a purchase.

And before we get to the list of videos and joints, let's take a look at some Bonus Beats from around the web.

Bonus Beats

Dua Saleh touched down at KEXP to perform back in January, with a grip of joints from their most recent LP, I SHOULD CALL THEM, and one from CROSSOVER.

What's Good fave AshTreJinkins touches down in Brooklyn for a set on JADALAREIGN's show on The Lot Radio.

Adris Mattsön sits down with Bad Snacks on her podcast The Sauce Factory to talk mastering, his solo record The Understory, and some lessons learned from being a member of Moonchild.

Infinity Knives & Brian Ennals, Live From The Apocalypse
The Maryland duo on critical acclaim versus financial gain and creating their blistering, beautiful third album, “A City Drowned In God’s Black Tears.”

A double shot from Dylan Green over at Hearing Things, first a chat with Infinity Knives & Brian Ennals ahead of next month's A City Drowned in God's Black Tears:

The night before we met up, the popular left-wing YouTuber F.D. Signifier shared “The Iron Wall” with his nearly one million subscribers, saying, “While we’re on the topic of what revolutionary music might sound like…” Ennals initially found out after his five-year-old son’s mother, who’s a big fan of F.D. Signifier, sent him the post in disbelief—Ennals didn’t even know who he was beforehand. While the duo appreciate the support, they bristle at the notion of being put in a box.

“I’m not a revolutionary. That’s a hard load to carry, bro,” Ennals says with a laugh. “I’m not starting breakfast programs, you know what I’m sayin’? It’s a lot of responsibility. I don’t write like ‘Oh, did I say something about how much I hate the cops on this? Or something about, like, oppression?’ I can’t write like that. It’s not fully who we are, but it’ll always be an aspect because we’re aware. I don’t like the word ‘conscious,’ but we’re aware of our surroundings.”

Flying Lotus on His Favorite Horror Movie and Video Game Composers
The musician and filmmaker breaks down the influences behind his new space thriller Ash. Plus, a scoop about the newest Brainfeeder signee.

Then an interview with Flying Lotus on the influences for the score of his currently-in-theaters sci-fi film ASH, and a big scoop on Brainfeeder's latest signee that'll be welcome news for video game fans:

Akira Yamaoka is all in this. He's an unsung hero. People owe so much to his influence in the sound and worlds of Silent Hill. Without the music in that atmosphere, it can be a pretty hollow game. He uses a very minimal approach to invoke that feeling of isolation and the beautiful melancholy where you just want to walk through the fog and the sun never comes out. I love that about his music.

I don't know if this is too early to say, but we are signing Akira Yamaoka to Brainfeeder. We got the man himself coming out with an album very soon. It’s completely unrelated to Silent Hill, but the fans will know what it is. I'll say that as a fan, I'm geeking over the album. I'm like, Dude, that's the guy right there.
